After making the move to the iPhone over a year ago, there was one thing I really missed: widgets. I had a lot of widgets set up on my Android phone, and I used them all the time — especially when using Evernote. One click and I was ready to add a photo note or start recording an audio note. Thanks to Stacey Harmon of Harmon Enterprises and Untethered with Evernote for posting about the Evernote widget available in iOS 8 devices, I now have my beloved Evernote widget on my iPhone!

The widgets are available for about 20 applications and are accessible from any screen via the pull-down notifications menu. They are even available when the screen is locked (a password is still required before the app opens).

To set up the Evernote widget, swipe down the Notifications screen and click on Today at the top.

Scroll to the bottom and locate and press the Edit button.

Activated widgets are shown at the top and unactivated widgets are below. Find the Evernote widget and tap on the green + sign.

This will move the Evernote widget into the active section at the top. Next, use the bars on the right to drag the Evernote widget to the top of the list. Hit DONE to save the changes.

Now, whenever the Notifications screen is accessed, an Evernote widget is available with five options: text, camera, photos, reminder and list. This feature is available on Evernote for iPhone, iPad and iPad Touch version 7.5 or higher running iOS 8.
