The Upper Kirby District is a sophisticated Houston neighborhood, with a combination of tastes, sounds and arts to delight all the senses. The area’s evolution continues as new mixed-use developments emerge and complement the existing fabric of this established area of town.

Who wouldn’t want to see what a neighborhood that’s known by an iconic red, very British phone booth, will come up with next?

A noted development is the Kirby Collection, located two blocks from Upper Richton, a new townhome and single-family home community by Surge Homes.

Once a forgotten and even forlorn part of town, Upper Kirby and adjacent Greenway Park are enjoying a rebirth. The multiuse West Avenue project is the heart of the neighborhood. West Avenue is an established mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly complex, with a mix of local boutique favorites.

Upper Kirby has the lifestyle young homebuyers want

The area boasts several spas, places to catch a show, and a cooking school. Eateries fancy and simple Include the flagship of the Carrabba’s Italian restaurant national chain are waiting to serve neighbors and visitors to Upper Kirby.

But those amenities will be joined by even more options will with the ribbon-cutting for the Kirby Collection. The Kirby Collection will be home to retail boutiques, restaurants and will feature luxury apartments on its upper floors. This complex will add to the spirit of the Upper Kirby District.

But that’s not all shoppers and diners will find in and near the heart of Upper Kirby. The Galleria, which is a short drive down Westheimer, complements the offerings of  a carefully curated collection of chic boutiques, restaurants and entertainment in Highland Village or the new River Oaks District.

But, shopping and dining are not the only ingredients to a vibrant, modern neighborhood.

The fabulous art scene is a facet of the neighborhood that is a worth an afternoon or two. Upper Kirby Galleries, formerly Gallery Row, located along Colquitt, is a community of art galleries, including the Catherine Couturier Gallery and the Nicole Longnecker Gallery, who often host artist’s receptions, exhibitions and Saturday open house events complete with food trucks and fine wines.

Upper Kirby is a quick trip from any part of town. In fact, the Upper Kirby District is convenient to Highway 59, without being drowned out by the  \hum of traffic. Downtown, the medical center and Greenway Plaza are just minutes away with Montrose and the Museum District nearby, as well.
