• Getting ready to get ready is not work. Work is helping people.
  • Avoid the temptation to indulge in the drama.
  • Practice saying, "I'm sorry that I offended you."

As we close out our series on the 15 crazy obvious truths, these last five points are critical if you want long-term success — both in real estate and in life. So, expand your mind and examine your perspective on these final points. Which of these are not part of your daily living? Which of these will you resolve to change today?

11. Have an attitude of gratitude

Even on the worst days. Can you journal three to five things each day that you’re grateful for? Here’s the challenge: Make them different every day, no repeats!

12. Purpose is better than passion

It’s OK not to love your work. Love what the results of your work provide for you and your family.

13. Talking about work is not the same as work

It’s called work because it requires effort. Know the difference between thinking and doing, and then do something about it.

14. Apologize even if you don’t think you’re wrong

A proper apology consists of admitting what went wrong, apologizing for the hurt caused and promising not to inflict the same pain in the future.

15. Forgive even if no one has apologized

Don’t become an eternal victim. Expend your energy in a positive way.

When hard days come (and they do come), and you’re ready to throw in the towel, remember these points. More importantly, become a master at applying them in your business, in dealing with your clients and also your family and friends.

Remember the choices we make and the part we play in the life greatly increases our ability to serve others at the highest level.
