• MetaProp NYC's latest class includes a lease-flipping marketplace, startups innovating in the HVAC space and a company that helps turn landlords into fitness class hosts.

Want to spot the next technologies likely to impact real estate? Take a peek under the hoods of real estate startup accelerators.

The accelerator MetaProp NYC has served up the latest tea leaves for industry tech prognosticators, announcing 2016 enrollees that tend to deal in the commercial sector.

They include a lease-flipping marketplace, startups innovating in the HVAC space and a company that helps turn landlords into fitness class hosts.

In exchange for a 6-percent equity stake, MetaProp NYC will provide class members with:

  • between $50,000 and $250,000 in funding
  • access to more than 100 mentors;
  • and support from international partners and sponsors, including Zillow Group, the Real Estate Board of New York and Warburg Realty, which provides office space for MetaProp.

The 22-week program focuses on helping enrollees boost their”business growth and market penetration.”

Signaling rapidly growing interest from tech investors in the industry, at least three real estate startup accelerators have sprouted in the last two years. In addition to MetaProp, they include AREA and a program managed by Moderne Ventures.

They follow in the footsteps of the National Association of Realtors’s (NAR) tech accelerator REach, which launched in 2013.

Selected from 300 applications from 35 countries, double the number the accelerator received last year, Metaprop’s 2016 class includes:

  • Flip, a marketplace where tenants and prospective tenants can buy and sell leases.
  • Ravti, a software that automates the process of bidding, procuring, and overseeing HVAC operations.
  • Enertiv, which MetaProp says “revolutionizes” how energy is collected, visualized and analyzed in buildings.
  • HoM, a startup that partners with residential landlords to deliver group fitness classes in underutilized space.
  • onTarget, a management and analytics tool for the construction industry that includes 3-D rendering.
  • BuildPulse, which helps building owners and operators “unlock the data in their HVAC systems.”
  • WorkOf, an interior design marketplace.
  • Bowery, a provider commercial appraisal software.
