Real estate agents have added tens of thousands of walkthrough videos to Zillow for-sale listings since the property search site rolled out a video option in February.

Now the listing portal has carved out space for property clips on rental listings.

“Video walkthroughs have been tremendously popular on for-sale listings, bringing them to rentals is a natural extension,” said Chief Marketing Officer Jeremy Wacksman.

As with Zillow’s for-sale listing videos, the rental listing videos are free but can only be recorded and published through a Zillow app — in this case, the Zillow Rental Manager App.

Unlike adding video to for-sale listings, publishing clips on rental listings does not boost their position in search results.

Zillow’s Rental Manager App lets agents record and stitch different segments of video into one. The videos don’t need to be a single continuous take, but they are silent and capped at two minutes.

The same restrictions apply to Zillow‘s free for-sale listing videos, though the listing portal recently began allowing agents to upload video captured without its app for $149 per listing.

With Zillow’s embrace of video and realtor.com reportedly gearing up to integrate 3-D home tours, the two listing portals are set to kick a real estate marketing revolution into high gear.
