The National Association of Realtors will be on hand on election day and the next to assess what the results mean for the real estate industry.

When everyone is anxiously anticipating what the midterm elections will bring on Tuesday, Nov. 6, lobbying powerhouse the National Association of Realtors will be on hand that day and the next to assess what the results mean for the real estate industry.

NAR, which has 1.3 million agent, broker and appraiser members, will hold Facebook Live events on its main Facebook page on Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. Eastern and on Nov. 7 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Eastern at its Washington D.C. headquarters.

On election night, the trade group will follow the returns of critical House and Senate races as well as Realtor-supported state and local races and initiatives, NAR said in its latest “The Voice For Real Estate” video.

“You can always watch the returns on the news, but you can’t get the Realtor information that’s important to you as a member,” said Gerry Allen, NAR director of campaign services and political strategic planning, in the video.

“So tune in to the Facebook Live event for the Realtor Party, so we can tell you what’s up with Realtor champions and Realtor issues across the country.”

The “Realtor Party” is NAR’s political advocacy arm and “Realtor champions” are candidates who are pro-Realtor and pro-property rights.

The next day, Nov. 7, NAR will hold another live webcast where its political experts will share their thoughts on what the results mean for the industry.

“Shannon McGahan, NAR Senior Vice President, Government Affairs, will discuss what the results will mean at the federal level in the new Congress for real estate. Political Expert Doug Sosnick will discuss races at the state and local level and the impact on real estate,” NAR spokesperson David Greer told Inman via email.

Inman asked readers what the issues most important to them in the upcoming midterms and they named health insurance, a looming recession, high inventory, housing affordability and homelessness, taxes and women’s rights, among others.

This year’s election takes place the day after NAR’s annual Realtors’ Conference and Expo concludes.
