Willie Miranda of Miranda Real Estate Group, located just north of the state capitol in Albany, is taking his team to the virtual cloud.

The top independent brokerage in New York’s Capital District is ending its run as a stand-alone brokerage and heading to eXp Realty as a gigantic 81-agent team.

Willie Miranda of Miranda Real Estate Group, located just north of the state capitol in Albany, is taking his  team to the virtual cloud real estate brokerage, executives told Inman on Wednesday. The team will take with them the original brokerage’s name.

“We definitely see the industry is changing,” Miranda told Inman, noting that he and his team looked at a lot of different models before choosing eXp Realty.

Miranda believes there are three tenets of how brokerages should support agents, and eXp Realty checked all those boxes for him. The brokerage needs to provide really good lead generation tools, an education platform that’s going to make them sharp and cutting edge and finally, the brokerage needs to provide top support.

“EXp Realty is the next level,” Miranda said. “Being agent-owned, having the stock equity program they have, being able to reward [agents] for attracting other agents to our company.”

Miranda was the first broker to bring Keller Williams to the capital region, more than a decade ago, but after less than three weeks, decided it wasn’t the best company for him personally. He said he knew the model would work, but it just wasn’t the right fit. So instead, he started an indie brokerage, Miranda Real Estate group.

Now he’s back to affiliating with a larger company, although this time it’s affiliating with a large brokerage as opposed to owning his own franchise.

Miranda Real Estate closed 980 transactions for $207 million in sales volume in the past year, according to Miranda.
