A new iPhone application from Smart Mobile Solutions allows real estate professionals who use DocuSign to track, view, revise and electronically sign documents on the go.

The ESIGNControl iPhone app provides mobile access to DocuSign’s capabilities, allowing real estate agents, mortgage brokers and others who rely on the company’s e-signature services to close deals from anywhere they have a data connection.

ESIGNControl, available for $6.99 from the Apple iTunes store, lets DocuSign users track and access documents, view document signing status, download and view sent documents, revise and resend documents, and electronically sign documents.

Custom-built software apps for the iPhone and other Internet-capable "smartphones" have been widely embraced by the real estate industry, with many companies and Web sites now offering applications that provide access to listings and lead management tools.

The ESIGNControl iPhone application demonstrates both the potential for real estate professionals to do more with their smartphones than access listings and manage leads and the role that third-party software developers play in bringing smartphone apps to market.

Like personal computers, smartphones have upgradeable operating systems that can be loaded with custom-built applications. That’s enabled third-party software developers to create thousands of programs for the iPhone and other smartphones that meet specialized needs (see story).

To encourage such innovation, DocuSign Inc. offers a software development kit (SDK) and operates the DocuSign Developer Center, which Naperville, Ill.-based Smart Mobile Solutions used to create ESIGNControl.
