Websites in the Move Inc. network including Realtor.com will soon rely on neighborhood and school attendance boundary definitions drawn up by Maponics LLC.

Although Realtor.com currently offers neighborhood search capabilities using other boundary definitions, the ability to see school attendance boundaries associated with individual properties will be new.

Norwich, Vt.-based Maponics, announced in May that in addition to providing neighborhood boundary data, it would provide online maps defining the attendance boundaries for individual schools.

Access to school attendance boundaries allows real estate listings sites to show homebuyers what primary, middle and high schools serve a particular home, and where they are located.

Move is also buying access to Maponics neighborhood boundaries product, which will give visitors to the company’s Web sites access to neighborhood boundaries, neighborhood zoning types, and social use designations like retirement communities and cultural or theater districts.

"For many families, searching for their next home includes careful consideration of school districts, community amenities and other points of interest before making a decision with confidence on what neighborhoods are right for their needs," said Steve Berkowitz, CEO of Move, in a press release.

Maponics said in May that its school attendance boundary coverage included about 20 percent of the U.S. student population.
