Wow! Twitter has a completely new look. Talk about photo-centric! Your profile photo is larger. Your header is huge. Twitter profile pages now boast a three-column format that is easy to surf and easy to understand.

Twitter Changes April 2014

Here is what you need to know about the new Twitter:

Adjust your profile photo

Twitter suggests 400 by 400 pixels. Use GIF, JPG or PNG (sorry, Twitter no longer supports animated GIFs).

Adjust your header photo

Twitter recommends 1,500 by 500 pixels.

Pin your top tweet

What is your favorite tweet? What tweet “tells your story”? What would you like to always have at the top of your home page? You can now pin your best tweet to the top of your stream.

Best tweets

Your best tweets appear in a larger font size. Best tweets are the tweets that received the most retweets, replies and favorites.

Filter the tweets of your followers

Notice that under the header of a tweep, you will see a choice of “Tweets,” “Tweets with Replies,” and (there have been reports of) “Tweets with Photos.” You can choose which of these you want to see.

Notice your followers list!

It is no longer a list — it is a board (can you say Pinterest?). You can now glean a lot more information about a tweep before deciding whether to follow back, list, ignore or block that twerson.

New followers are in your stream!

When you have new followers/following, their profile picture with summary will appear in your stream/timeline.

As you preview the new Twitter, it becomes obvious that Twitter has taken clues from Facebook, Google Plus and Pinterest.

Most Twitter accounts have been upgraded to the new interface. All others will be changed in the coming days.

Welcome to the new Twitter!
