California has the highest number of the nation’s “best” real estate professionals, according to Real Trends’ sixth annual ranking of the nation’s top real estate professionals by region.

The annual list from the Colorado-based real estate consulting and publishing firm breaks down the top agents in states and metropolitan areas by transactions sides and volumes. Agents must have closed at least 50 transactions and $20 million and teams must have closed 75 transactions and $30 million in sales volume in 2017 to make the list.

“With today’s release of the 2018 America’s Best Real Estate Professionals list, an elite group of real estate agents across the country are receiving well-deserved recognition,” Steve Murray, president of Real Trends said in a release. “These sales associates have built enormously successful small businesses in an extremely competitive field.”

The real estate professionals who made the list had an average of 73.88 transactions and an average sales volume of nearly $38 million.

“The average residential real estate agent in the United States closed eight transactions in 2017 and had less than $1.3 million in sales,” Murray said.

Teams that made the list averaged 147.4 transactions and an average sales volume of more than $62 million.

Among the most recognizable names on the list: The Serhant Team, the New York City-based Nest Seekers crew headed up by Bravo TV’s Million Dollar Listing star agent Ryan Serhant, took home the top team by sides and volume for the Empire State.
